On the Boards: The Architect’s House

Description

This is Cuyler Feagles’ own house, a modest ranch that was badly in need of repair. The interior is all but done, and the garage and foyer will be underway shortly.

There are limits to what can be reasonably done with a house of this nature. The existing floor plan is efficient but unexciting. A few modest changes were made to open it up a bit, but it was left largely intact.

This house is typical of many low-end residences in that there exists almost no relationship to its site. The garage was designed in an attempt to re-connect the building with its site while at the same time creating an interesting spatial and architectural composition.
